As I prepared to crossover into 2024, I was reminded to submit my plans to the Lord. You've been reflecting over 2023 and planning for 2024. One thing I want you to quiet your mind and focus on is: "What is God saying about 2024?" Not just the goals you have in mind, but what did God prepare for you in 2024?

We often quote Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans of good and not of evil - to bring you to an expected end." Let this year be the start of speaking AND believing God's word. His word tells us what is true and what can be trusted.

In Proverbs 16 verse 3 (Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.) and verse 9 (In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.) we are instructed in proper planning and goal setting. Let everything go through our Heavenly Father.

I believe that when you honor the Lord with your plans, you will see miracles of provision and restoration in every area of your life. May the grace and favor of our Lord rest on us as we walk in our destiny.

After analyzing the many accounts of failed 'new beginnings', I can confidently say that with new things, it is "by force" before it is "by nature". If you consider the process of creating new habits, there is an intentional - forced - action that is consistently implemented. Most good habits and attitudes become our nature once we've spent a bit of time consistently forcing ourselves to act outside of comfort and familiarity.

I remember learning to ride a bike. It was so difficult. My siblings and cousins made it look so easy, effortless. After trying, falling, trying, crashing, trying.... I FINALLY got it. What was hard, frustrating, and seemed like I would never get the hang of became second nature. Now, after 10+ years of not riding a bike - I hopped on one and what was once forced is now natural.

I share this thought in hopes of encouraging you along your journey of building a life of consistency, fruitfulness, and fulfillment. It will be as easy as riding a bike. You may have to force yourself to make the right decisions now, but what you are doing by force now will become a part of your nature later. There is a process of forging new neurological pathways that precede your ability to form healthy, productive habits. Embrace the challenge to live a SHIFTed life - there's more than what you've become comfortable with.
